It is the third straight year Best Friends Animal Society has recognized the shelter for this achievement.

The Flagler Humane Society has been recognized by Best Friends Animal Society for achieving a 90% save rate for calendar year 2024, the Flagler Humane Society announced in a press release. It is the third consecutive year the Flagler County shelter has achieved this accomplishment.

“We consistently strive to exceed Florida and National benchmarks for save rates, and we’re humbled that our passion and dedication to save and adopt-out pets are recognized by an esteemed and respected national organization such as Best Friends Animal Society,” Flagler Humane Society Executive Director Amy Carotenuto said.

The Humane Society also announced the addition of three members to its board of directors. Laurie Haag of Flagler Beach, Julianna Benedick of Palm Coast, and Dave Joy of Palm Coast have all joined the board within the last several months.
