The Disaster Emergency Animal Shelter has been held in the gym at Bunnell Elementary during recent disasters. The owners stay in the general population, while their pet is placed in an area with Flagler Humane Society employees and volunteers overseeing it.
There are designated visiting hours during which owners can come and care for their pets. They will be expected to walk, clean, and feed their respective pets.Owners should be prepared to provide their pets with caging, bedding, toys, cleaning supplies, and food. Minimal supplies will be available for any forgotten items that may be needed.
Flagler Humane Society requests that owners download the necessary paperwork for intake before arriving at the emergency shelter to expedite the intake process.
Owners should notify the Flagler Humane Society if they plan to visit the Special Needs shelter, as these animals will be housed in a separate location from their owners, and arrangements for transportation must be made.
First Responders will be able to house their pets at the Flagler Humane Society, and FHS staff will provide care for those pets.
