FHS offers low-cost spay and neuter services, including multiple programs for low-income pet owners (that are often times FREE). FHS also provides rescue group pricing and community cat caregiver discounted pricing. Ensuring that all animals are spay and neutered is a focus on ours, as this is the only real way to reduce the over pet population crisis across the country. There are simply not enough good loving homes for all those who need one. Increasing cost of care, along with busy schedules also can hinder a family from adopting a new forever family member.
There are many health reason to spay/neuter your pet as well. Such as did you know that spaying helps prevent uterine infections and breast tumors, which are malignant or cancerous in about 50 percent of dogs and 90 percent of cats. Spaying your pet before her first heat offers the best protection from these diseases. Neutering your male companion prevents testicular cancer and some prostate problems.
Spaying a female dog also eliminates the messiness associated with the heat cycle. Neutering of male dogs and cats can prevent certain undesirable sexual behaviors, such as urine marking, humping, male aggression and the urge to roam.
